not-ends

Know those new-fangled glue mousetraps? Well, Brooklyn mice don't impress easily. In the five days I've had four of these traps up, the sum total of my haul has been a two year-old human, a three week-old kitten, and (I swear I am not kidding) one load of mousepoop. Mousepoop.

In the 19th century, the age of consent in some states was 7.

Who's done more to end racism, Martin Luther King Jr. or Halle Berry? How many white men are left would refuse to bring her home to mother?

There are two groups of people who bore me: people who drink, and people who don't.

I am not a gentleman, i am a gentle man.

By and large, the only thing that matters in life is how you treat others. Why is this concept so elusive? One, because the proper definition of "others" is far broader than we think. And two, because how we treat others is a reflection of how we treat ourselves, and most people are such a mess of ignorance, rationalization, self-loathing, and denial, that almost nobody knows how to treat themselves well (and those who do, are damned by the fact that almost nobody else knows how to reciprocate). This is the obstacle that faces every saint, savior, and social worker.

Lambs who are not licked fail to stand up and sometimes die.

The realization that god could never favor one religion over another is but the midway marker on the path to intelligence.

The phrase "lose your virginity" will pass away. In the future, the activity those words describe will be one of communal joy, personal love, and above all, gain. Not loss, gain. Anyone care to take a stab at creating tomorrow's language?

The single most important moment in the life of any evolved human, comes the day they realize that everyone they've ever known is a barbarian.

The only trustworthy person in the world is one who laughs at themself everyday.

not to trash the effect, but more likely than "lose your virginity" disappearing, the connotation of virginity will more likely become increasingly negative and hence the phrase will likely become increasingly positive. this trend can already be observed.

i'd like to be a gentleman.
