Can we be forgiven
our sins against whale
The descent of "mankind"
A bloody, blind tale
Can we be forgiven
our sins against neighbor
To redress such wrongs
Beyond herculean labor
Can we be forgiven
our sins against daughter
Each newborn babe
contracted into slaughter
Can we be forgiven
our sins against self
Or consecrate humanity
to history's shelf
