The greatest living lyricists are randy newman and ani difranco. I discovered ani's music many years after she arrived on the scene in the 90s, but once i found her, it's been a non-stop love affair. No other songwriter is so relentlessly, non-apologetically political. And if you've never seen her play, you might assume that she's not the one thrashing that distinctive, powerful guitar...but it's all ani. She may still have as full a career ahead as what's behind...but as it stands, here's the dream concert.
